One of our main goals at Bamford Produce is to conserve and protect natural resources for future generations, and to promote human health through sustainable practices and environmental care. All our projects and operations are conscientiously aligned with the culture of conservation, as we are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality produce.
We are in the process of converting delivery trucks to biodiesel and we are reviewing hybrid options. Most exciting to us is the possibility of fully electric delivery vehicles for defined geographic areas.
We currently recycle all of our cardboard waste and supply our organic waste to a local farmer for cattle feed. Sustainable growing with the current acquisition of Bamford Family Farms as well as controlling interest in Bay Growers, we are perfectly positioned to not only source local produce offerings but to also actually grow and pack them for our customers. We practice sustainable growing methods by following the best agriculture practices such as responsible soil management, use of minimal chemical fertilizers, natural pest, weed and disease control, among others. A strong effort has been made to use farming methods that mimic natural processes, leaving the farm and the general environment healthy and productive.
We have installed high-pressure water service throughout our processing and distribution facility, which reduces the amount of water needed for washing our warehouse and products before production as well as machinery during our sanitation process. Also we use recirculation tanks to reduce our overall consumption of water whenever possible.
Our organic waste is substantial within our processing division of Freshline Foods. Currently our organic waste is shipped to a local farmer who uses it to feed specific livestock. We are in the process of reviewing bio-digester options due to the large amount of organic waste we produce. The technology exists today where organic waste can be converted to methane gas that in turn can be converted to energy/power.
In recent years we have saved the equivalent of 6300 mature trees.
All cardboard is recycled and all food waste is sent for animal feed.
We utilize high efficiency lighting and our packaging materials are 100% recyclable or compostable.
We use ROADNET GPS tracking and routing of all our delivery vehicles to reduce mileage, fuel consumption and unnecessary time on the road.
